Facts

The Lepidoptera is found in many parts of the world.  This map shows the abundance of Lepidoptera specimens collected.

Lepidoptera's most common predators include  birds, bats, parasitoids, and other small mammals (Scoble, 180).

Out of 700 butterfly species that roam the United states, approximately 138 of them are found in Wisconsin (Ebner, 17).

Two broods of Red-Spotted Purple butterflies are present each summer. The first one appears in the middle of June and the second flies from early August until September (Ebner, 100).
