Habitat
The African civet (Civettctis civetta) lives in two
types of habitats, including tropical and subtropical
grasslands, and savannahs and shrub lands in central Africa
(Pendj 1994). It is common for the African civet to live in the
ground in the base of an uprooted tree as a den. Living in a
wide variety of different areas, the civet is a
roaming
animal that makes temporary homes as it searches for food. Many
African animals live by the African civet, such as
meerkats,
giraffes,
lions,
cheetas,
bush babies,
elephants,
zebras,
hippos,
leopards, and
rhinos, just to name a few. The African civet is a solitary
animal, however, and it is rare to find them living with or
around another African civet.
