*      Daphnia, including D. pulex account for the majority of the organisms found in freshwater ecosystems!

*      Daphnia can filter ALL of the algae out of a lake at a rate of 4ml/hr!

*      D. pulex are only 1.0-3.5 mm in length!

*      Because their skin is transparent, D. pulex is commonly used in laboratories. You can even see their digestive tract, heartbeat, and eggs through their skin!

*      Daphnia are used as an indicator of how well an ecosystem is doing due to their place in the food web.

*      Daphnia can actually manipulate their own body form in time of desperate need!
