Habitat and Geography

The Barn Owl is found almost everywhere in the world except in desert and polar climates. However, the Barn Owl likes to be in the Southern Hemisphere because the climate conditions are more favorable (Johnson, 2012).

Barn Owls can be spotted in the open countryside in fields, along riverbanks, and also on the side of roads. This makes their primary habitat open plains, low-lying woodland farms, fields, canyons, or cliffs. In these areas you can find Barn Owls roosting in hollow trees such as maples, pines, and willows. Barn Owls also perch in places like caves, wells, thick foliage, or out-buildings (www.owlpages.com).
