Habitat

Harpy Eagle in flight. Photo taken by Jitze Couperus, published on Flickr    Harpy Eagles have a wide territorial span across
South American. Their location ranges from as
far North as Mexico, and South down to Paraguay
or Argentina.  However their most populated area
is focused in Brazil.   Harpy Eagles are most
content in the canopy of trees where there is
ample shelter and food available. The canopy also
provides perching opportunities for the eagles to
rest and look for possible prey.   Although they
typically do not hunt or spend time in disruptive
or open areas, they have been known to fly across
diverse habitats such as open fields or even cities.
