The World's Largest Land Mammal

 

 

Common Name Giraffe
Domain Eukarya The giraffe has membrane bound organelles.
Kingdom Animalia They are Multicellular, heterotrophic, and have specialized cells.
Phylum Chordata Notochord, complete digestive system, and a ventral heart
Class Mammalia They have a vertebrate and are endothermic.  Their body is covered in hair, and they produce milk to feed their young.
Order Artiodactyla Giraffes are paraxonic meaning there is a plane of symmetry bettween the third and fourth digits on all four feet.
Family Giraffidae They have a long narrow head, a long tongue and cannon bones.
Genus Giraffa Only two species in this order, giraffe and okapi
Species Giraffa Camelopardalis Giraffe
