Gulper eels are located in temperate and tropical seas around the world. They are well known in the Atlantic, central and eastern Pacific Oceans. They are found in extreme depths of the ocean in the Bathypelagic zone, where few other organisms are found, ranging in depths of 500-7,500 meters. The Bathypelagic zone has no light and very high water pressure. Other organisms that live in this zone include: vampire squid, giant squid, amphipod, slime stars, snake dragon fish, angelfish, and oarfish.
