-Many people believe that ticks can jump or fly onto their hosts. This is not true. They can only crawl up to the tips of grass or shrubs in their habitat and attach to their host when the host brushes against that grass or shrub.

-Another common belief is that ticks live in trees and can attach to a host from them brushing up against a tree. This is also not true. Ticks don’t live in trees, nor do they attach to hosts from trees.

-Ticks can live over a year without food.

-There are approximately 850 different species of ticks

-If a deer tick is infected with bacteria, it must be attached to a host for 24-48 hours before it is able to transmit Lyme's disease and 24+ hours to transmit Human granulocytic anaplasmosis.

-Deer ticks in their nymph stage are responsible for almost all of the Lyme's Disease cases in humans.
