Interactionshttp://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu

Pygoscelis adeliae are naturally a very social, participating in frequent interactions with other penguins in their colony.  For many activities, such traveling and hunting, they travel in groups.  Despite their generally social tendencies, they are very protective of their nesting site and will fight off any other that challenge for their site.  When anxious Pygoscelis adeliae puff up the feathers on their head and convey a threat by staring sideways and downward and raising their crest.
