Hello, my name is Brandon Olsen. I am attending the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse for Biochemistry. I am hoping to go into research in the medicinal field. The reason I chose to study Glycyrrhiza glabra is because of my interest in licorice flavored candies. Through this research I learned that not all candies I initially thought would be made with licorice are made with the glycyrrhizic acid in them. Looking at the medicinal properties of this plant, I suppose it is not such a bad idea to artificially flavor the candies.
