The Moreton Bay bug has a wide geographical distribution in the Indo-West Pacific region from Japan through the Philippines to Gulf countries and Australia.  They can also be found though  near India (Chennai Coast) , the Great Barrier Reef, and the South China Sea.  They live along these coasts and can be found from 30-60 meters out and some cases even farther.  One place that you can surely find this organism at is the Moreton bay, where this organism actually got one of its name from and lives among many others in abundances.  To see some pictures of Moreton Bay click here
