Averrhoa carambola
Adaptation
Although Averrhoa carambola does not have an extremely tolerate temperature range it does have a fairly well soil tolerance. The younger the trees are the more susceptible to temperature changes, they have been known to die at temperatures of 32°C and lower while more older trees can tolerate low temperatures around 27°C.
The fruit has been known to grow at its prime in soils that are rich in loam. Loam is comprised of a mixture of clay and soil that is used by many other plants such as carrots and beans.
Carambola trees prefer to grow in soils that have moderate to neutral acidity.
