Gastrocopta similis

Geography

Gastrocopta similis can be found in areas of the Great Plains such as Northeastern Oklahoma and Eastern North Dakota and ranges to Ohio through Quebec.(Nekola 2009)  In southern Ontario a large population has been found, and a smaller population has been discovered in the grazing lands surrounding Quebec called the Plains of Abraham. (Nekola 2009)

Habitat

Gastrocopta similis can be found on bare soil and underneath rocks, on rock shelves that are covered with soil and in the partially decomposed layer of plant materials called thatch.(Coles 2010)  It's habitat varies greatly and ranges from dry grasslands with little vegetation to the moist, nutrient rich temperate hardwood forests. (Coles 2010)
