The
Mesodon clausus is a terrestrial snail found in North
America, primarily in the United States east of the Mississippi
River in: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa,
Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota,
Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma,
Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and
Wisconsin.
It has also been reported in Ontario, Canada.
Terrestrial gastropods do not move much from their original habitat; if they do, it is usually only to find food or reproduce. Terrestrial snails prefer to live in moist, shady environments.
