A few interesting facts worth noting:
Some individuals of the species exhibit fewer whorls of the shell than the expected 5and1/2 to 6. This is apparently related to a diseased state of the organism. These individuals can often be confused or misidentified with the species Pupoides modicus(Hubricht 1985). For typical shell appearance, see home.
The snail was named by C.B. Adams in 1841(Pilsbury).
