Vertigo nylanderi

Reproduction

Snails are monoecious organisms, meaning they have both male and female reproductive organs. However, the genus Vertigo is known to have a reduction in male genitalia so the reproductive strategies of the deep-throated vertigo are not entirely clear. They are believed to lay eggs with little development within the mother (oviparity), a method also seen in fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, insects, and arachnids.
