Reproduction
A distinct characteristic of the kingdom Animalia is that they have the ability to reproduce by the fusion of egg and sperm cells. Being a member of the Animalia kingdom, Physella gyrina are capable of the reproductive process. As an annual species, Physella gyrina find a new mate to reproduce with in the late season of summer. Within the short time-span of three to five weeks of life, Physella gyrina begin to produce as many as two-hundred eggs in a lifetime. The eggs expelled from the snail are gelatin-like and somewhat transparent with a whitish color tint (The Freshwater Gastropods of North America 2006).
