Habitat
The Ramshorn Snail is found all over North America,
such as
along the Mississippi River, and they can be found in Canada
as well. They can usually be found in freshwater areas such as
ponds, lakes, rivers or swamps (Dillon, 2006). You also may
have seen them before at a local pet shop as they are
popular in fish tanks and aquariums. Ramshorn snails
hibernate and can survive harsh cold winters. They have been
seen thriving in colder areas such as Alaska!(Dillon,2006).
See the adaptation page to see some
characteristics of the snail that allows it to thrive in these environments.
