Status in Wisconsin
This species is currently under what is known as "special
concern" or SC in Wisconsin (DNR, 2011). This means that the
species is rather vulnerable and therefore needs special
stipulations or considerations, however the species is not yet
in grave danger of extinction. By coding an animal as this, it
aims to prevent further decrease in number of individuals of
that species. The largest cause of the decline in G. rhoadsi
populations is the destruction of the forests which these
organisms inhabit (Orstan,
1999). Without the abundant nutrients of
the forest floor and the proper temperature and moisture
provided by the wooded environment, the sculpted glyphs cannot
survive.
