Habitat
Patera binneyana can be found in the western and northwestern part of the state of Arkansas. According to biologists Gerald and Brian who did a survey of gastropods in this state; they stated that this part of the state was less suitable for snails and other land mollusks (Gerald, Brian, 2002). The northern part of the state is mostly made of limestone and dolomite outcropping (Gerald, Brian, 2002). The area where this snail is found is in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. The mountains are mostly made up of densely wooded forest. Even though it is a forest it is also one of the coldest and driest parts of the state because of its high elevation. This cold and dry climate makes it hard for snails to survive unlike in the southern part of the state where there is more rain fall each year, making it an ideal place for snails to live.
