The Domain Eukarya refers to the taxon that have eukaryotic
cells.
The Kingdom Animalia refers to the animals. To be fall under the
Kingdom Animalia the taxon is multicellular, heterotropic, and
eukaryotic.
The Phylum Arthropoda (arthro = joint; poda = foot) are invertebrates, bilateral symmetric, have segmented bodies, have an exoskeleton, and have jointed appendages. The Arthropoda arose in the Cambrain period between 500 to 600 million years ago.
The Class Insecta (from Latin insectum meaning "cut into sections") have three main body parts which consists of a head, thorax, and an abdomen. Taxon under the Class Insecta have a pair of antennae, two pairs of wings, compound eyes, metamorphosis, complex mouthparts, and three pairs of legs.
The Order Orthoptera (ortho = straight; ptera = wing) usually have enlarged hind legs used for jumping, large compound eyes, and and mandibulate mouthparts. The Order Orthoptera arose in the middle of the carboniferous period, which is well over 300 million years ago.
The Suborder Caelifera is where grasshoppers branch off from the crickets and katydids. Such characteristics as length of antennae and ovipositors, location of auditory organs, feeding habits, and when grasshoppers are active differ from that of the crickets and katydids. Grasshoppers have short antennae and ovipositors, are herbivorous, have their auditory organs if present are located on the abdomen, and are active during the day.
The Family Acrididae refers to the short-horned grasshoppers.
The Subfamily Gomphocerinae are commonly called the slant-faced grasshoppers.
The Genus Chloealtis.
The Species Chloealtis conspersa more commonly known as the sprinkled grasshopper or sprinkled broad-winged grasshopper. This species was discovered by Harris in 1841.
