The Black Carpenter Ant

Camponotus pennsylvanicus or Black Carpenter Ant, is an ant designed to bore through wood in forests as well as homes.  They range from any size of the workers being 6mm-14mm from the queen being 15mm-18mm (Gordon 2010).  These are the common ants that one would find in there home if a soda were spilled and not cleaned up in a timely manner.  Although being no harm to humans they pose as a pest in both internal and external environments.  Going through their habitat, nutrition, reproduction and social interactions you will find that the Camponotus pennsylvanicus is a very unique and distinctive ant that has a very different way of living.
