Interactions with Other Species

·         Predators

   o   Mice, squirrels, Blue Jays, Turkeys, Crows, Robins, and more

·         Prey

   o   Primarily Oaks; also includes Black Cherry, Sassafras, and Red Clover (Wirth 2005).

·         Human Interaction

   o   Overpopulation can kill trees

   o   Healthy populations help prune trees and keep them healthy (Oak Pests 2012).

·         Other

   o   A certain ant species carries eggs underground and eats a small part of the egg. The insect develops and hatches normally after being protected by the ants (O'Tool 2002).
