Stenella coeruleoalba
Fun Facts
Many dolphin species, including the Striped Dolphin, have been known to save humans from the scene of a shipwreck or even from sharks by dragging them to shore (Lilly 1961).
Dolphins emit a wide variety of noises. These can range from noises that resemble a person laughing to a squeaky door hinge (Lily 1961). To hear a few of these unique sounds, visit The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Striped Dolphins are known for a behavior called "roto-tailing" where they jump great heights out of the water and rotate their tails (NOAA).
