Habitat
Abralia veranyi are found in marine tropical and subtropical areas around the world. This means usually between the latitudes of 30 degrees north and 30 degrees south. More specifically for the eye-flash squid, the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea are the most common places to find them. These areas have water temperatures between 45-80 degrees Fahrenheit.
They are most likely found in the pelagic depths, or more commonly known as the open ocean. They live in a range from 10m-800m in depth but undergo a daily vertical migration from deep waters to the near surface. They remain at depths where no light reaches during the day to avoid predators but at night they will rise to the surface to find prey.
