Reproduction is
interesting and different in all types of organisms. In
fish this process is pretty cool! The female
Lagocephalus lunaris lays hundreds and hundreds of
very small eggs. The male Lagocephalus lunaris
fertilizes the eggs by releasing his sperm in the
surrounding water. As the eggs grow and develop the
water brings the needed nutrients.
Some other species of
fish are fertilized within the female and she gives
birth to live young. Also, others are fertilized
internally and the female drops the fertilized eggs into
a next of some sort.
