** Septioteuthis lessoniana ink is eaten in many different Mediterranean pasta dishes!

** Sepioteuthis lessoniana is also served as calamari all over the world.  You can get this dish with many different side sauces.  It usually comes deep fried, but it is also really good just baked.

** The eye to body mass size ratio is one of the greatest in the world.  The only organisms that have a greater eye to body mass ratio are other species of squid!

** Scientists frequently use Sepioteuthis lessoniana as modelSepioteuthis lessoniana organisms for neurological studies. This is because their axons are so large and easy to work with. 

** Sepioteuthis lessoniana can get as fast as 15 meters per second!

** In a taste test between Sepioteuthis lessoniana, Loligo bleekeri, Loligo edulis and Todarodes pacificus it was determined that Sepioteuthis lessoniana had the most preferred taste.

** Sepioteuthis lessoniana (and other squid forms) actually have blue blood!  This is due to the chemical hemocyanin being the oxygen carrier in the blood instead of hemoglobin.
