Habitat

       S. bridgesii prefers to live on tree branches or in shady spots where organic materials are located. It was originally from Brazil and other parts of South America. For the most part, it now resides in people's households and is usually a hybrid of the Brazilian one to make the brilliant colors when Picture taken by Chris Spangenbergit flowers. It requires a soil pot that both holds moisture and drains well. The temperature should be between 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit and it prefers the environment to be humid. For flowering to occur, it needs to be in the dark for at least 12 hours a day for a period of time which happens to occur around Christmas time.
