Specifically speaking we see Cortinarius s. residing in Europe, areas like southern England, Wales, and very common in Scandinavia. More recently we have been seeing them pop up in North America. We typically see it growing in terrestrial environments, well forested areas. It also has a preference for acidic soil, so we see larger concentration of them in forest with high numbers of eastern pine trees and spruce. Fruiting bodies tend to bloom form mid-to late summer
