About Me

Me at the National Museum of American History    Hello!  My name is Libby Jachimiec, and I am currently a freshman at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse studying Biology/Pre-Medicine with the intent to pursue a career in pediatrics. It will be a long road, but it'll be worth it! I love working with kids (probably because I have yet to actually grow up...), being outside, and spending time with friends and family. I love watching movies (especially Disney/Pixar ones; my favorites are UP and Finding Nemo, but I'm also a true Star Wars and Harry Potter fan). I tend to take too many pictures (see some of my hyacinth pictures under "Gallery").

I completed this webpage for a class I am currently enrolled in, Organismal Biology. I specifically chose the hyacinth because while I had heard of it and seen the flower I knew little about it. Not to mention when I stumbled across it on the list of poisonous/venomous organisms, I was intrigued; who knew such a pretty flower could be so vicious?

I hope you enjoyed this website and found the it informative and interesting! The more I learned about the hyacinth, the more I grew to like it. It really is a beautiful flower (as long as you don't touch the petals!), and VERY fragrant, as I found out from personal experience--my mom recently received one as a gift, and our whole house smelled like its perfume. VERY strong!!
