However, the Pacific Bleeding Heart is native to the Western United States and Canada. The radiant whites, pinks, and purples of the flower are found in high elevations of the West Coast. The flowers resemble a heart that is dripping blood, hence the name "Bleeding Heart." But be careful! This beautiful plant is also toxic; ironically, this plant can also be used for medicine.
