Habitat and Geography
There are very few snails of the species, Discus patulus, but
the few that are found and studied
are known to be endemic to the United States. The snails
are specifically found
in Maryland, South Carolina, Ohio,
Wisconsin, Tennessee, Kentucky, and around Lake Erie. View

The Domed Disc snail is not particularly picky with its
habitat. This species can be located in moist
areas among leaf
litter or under logs in deciduous forests, river valleys, and
ravines. They enjoy shaded
areas. For the optimal
habitat, Discus patulus enjoys burrowing in soft, loosened bark of rotting logs
which provides the perfect
habitat needs(Pilsbry 1948).
This species of snail blends in with its rocky habitat very well because of their brownish shell coloration.
