History
The Discovery of the rare species of
snail, Discus patulus, occurred in 1817 by
Thomas Say, he
studied this species and observed its characteristics and described
it to
belong to the species
Helix perspectiva
(However, Say was not aware
that the specific name
perspectiva
was already in use for
another snail, so scientist Deshayes re-named it Helix patula
in 1830.
