Land snails are generally herbivorous. They have a tongue like structure that is rough used for
scraping against the food it is to consume.  This physical structure is called the radula.
Discus patulus
feed on plants such as leaves, stems, and soft bark, fruits and algae. 
Snails need to consume large amounts of calcium to keep their shells hard for protection. 
Snails rely in their powerful sense of smell to locate their food supply because their eye sight is poor.(Snail world)
