Interactions
Pupilla muscorum inhabits a important role within its habitat. Most gastropods are herbivores, or plant feeders (Hickman, et al. 2007). They provide a food source to many different organisms, including birds, frogs and small mammals. In addition to these normal fuctions, Pupilla muscorum is also the intermediate host for several different members of the Protostrongylus genus of nematodes (Grewal, et al. 2003):
- Protostrongylus hobmaieri
- P. kamenskyi
- P. pulmonals
- P. rufescenes
- P.stilesi
- P.tauricus
