Most snails act as herbivores, eating plants that they can reach but they are able to eat other things such as algae. Vertigo hubrichti uses a radula to scrape off the decaying surfaces of leaves to obtain food (Frest 1991). There is no clear information as to what they are eating off these leaves but its possible that its just decaying leaf matter, fungi, or microorganisms found on each leaf (Eisenhour et al. 2009). Like many other animals, most snails store their energy if the form of fat but it is unknown if Vertigo hubrichti has that same characteristic given the lact of information available about their diets (Eisenhour et al. 2009). They do not seem to have a parasitic stage associated with them, but since they are endangered there many be many things that we do not quite know about them yet.
