Reproduction
Little is known about the reproductive habits of
Vertigo hubrichti since it is rarely found. Their active period is
from the first week of June to the fourth week of September
(Michigan 2007). They do
have hermaphroditic qualities, that allows them to reproduce as either a
male or female which should increase their chance of finding a mate but
their lifecycles are quite short
(NatureServe 2011). Not
much else
is known about the lifecycle they follow. Although, they seem
to follow a 3-stage lifecycle
similar to that of other closely related snails, which follows as such:
1) development (egg) stage, 2) juvenile stage, and 3) a mature adult
snail stage
(NatureServe2011). Not much is known about the age of maturity or
when they primarily mate.
