Threats to Vertigo hubrichti
Vertigo
hubrichti is an endangered species (legally protected) which makes
it very
vulnerable to changes to its environment
(Michigan 2007). Many
different things can affect this small land snail but knowing about them
could help prevent further damage to their habitats and increase their
ability to survive.

It's most vulnerable to interruptions in the air and heavy water flow
since its habitat is on
slopes which
are heavily vegetated. This increases their chance to be swept away with
debris during a heavy rainfall. They could be washed
away by heavy rains or drown from overflow of water. Another threat to
this snail is being trampled. Vertigo hubrichti's small size
does not allow people or other large animals the ability to see them
well when passing through. This leaves them very susceptible to being
crushed by things that were not even looking to hurt them
(Frest 1991).
Not much else is known about the lack of Vertigo hubrichti
because there are so few. All that is know is that they are extremely in
danger of potentially becoming extinct
(Anderson et al. 2002).
