About the author

My name is Ashley Minnis and I am currently a sophomore studying at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse. I am majoring in biological medicine with a concentration in pre-medicine. My goal is to go to medical school and become a pediatrician at a children’s hospital.

I have created this website about the eastern white pine tree to fulfill a requirement for my Organismal Biology course- a 200 level, semester long class taught by Dr. Greg Sandland.

The theme of this year’s webpages is organisms found in the La Crosse area. I chose Pinus strobus because I wanted to learn more about this common tree. I love being outdoors and so before doing this project, I had a good basis of information about the organism; however, I knew there had to be so much more to the seemingly simple plant.

After researching and completing my webpage I have a greater understanding of the complexity of the Eastern white pine tree. My hope is that you, as a viewer, were able to gain a greater appreciation for the “simple” tree as well.

If you have any questions or comments regarding my site, you can contact me at minnis.ashl@students.uwlax.edu.

Also, if you are interested in learning more about other intriguing organisms, be sure to check out the other webpages created by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, organismal biology students at: http://MultipleOrganisms.net.

Thank you and enjoy! :)
