Habitat
The pink mucket is found in mud and sand and shallow riffles
in major rivers and tributaries. The mussel buries itself
in the sand and gravel at the bottom of the rivers, streams,
ponds and flowing waters. It leaves its posterior edge
exposed to the current.
The pink mucket is found in the
following states: Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Arkansas,
Alabama, West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Louisiana,
Kentucky, and Tennessee. They are also found in the lower
Mississippi and Ohio Rivers as well as their tributaries.
