Walking alongside the snow covered road, you notice a large tree off the side of the road.  A characteristic that strikes you is the vibrant orange berries that stand out from the white snow.  What could this tree be?  If you guessed Sorbus americana (American Mountain Ash), you are correct!  This fascinating tree holds bright orange berries in the winter,  white flowers from May to July and then the fruit ripens in August and turns a vibrant orange color while the leaves turn an orange and purple color.  These berries then stay on the tree all winter for the birds to eat.
