All about the rainbow lorikeet:
Imagine vacationing at a small bed and breakfast in Australia. You're sitting out on a little patio enjoying your breakfast watching a beautiful sunrise when you see a magnificent, multicolored bird fly up and land right near your cereal. Curiously, the bird swoops in to try a little bite. Then, after the bird seems to have gained your trust, he flies up to your shoulder. You know it won't last long, but you savor the moments that this bird makes physical contact with you. As you watch it fly away, you can't help but marvel at its pure beauty. What amazing bird have you just encountered? The rainbow lorikeet, or in Latin, Trichoglossus haematodus. As you can see, this beautiful parrot gets its name from the bright, colorful feathers it displays.
