The Red-winged Blackbird feeds mostly on insects, seeds, and grains from its wetland or marsh environment. They also like to eat small aquatic life and small fruits. As you can see, they have quite a wide variety of food to choose from, unlike most smaller bird species who tend to feed on certain types of vegetation, seeds, or small animals. These birds are not picky eaters, and since they feed on both plants and animals, they are considered omnivores.
