Interesting Facts

The Amelanchier Canadensis has the nick name of the Shadbush tree. There is a story of the people in New York in the beginning of spring when the white flowers begin to come about. This also meant that it was time for the shad fish to spawn on the Hudson River as well as the Delaware River. That is how the Amelanchier Canadensis received its name. The shads spawn around the same time the leaves appear on the Shadbush tree.

Beautiful white flowers of the Amelanchier Canadensis are the first to bloom in early spring. It is a nice welcome sign of spring against the remaining winter weather.

Along with being called the shadbush tree the Amelanchier Canadensis can also be called the Shadblow tree or the White Pillar. The White Pillar is a variety of tree that can be used as decoration.
