Other Interesting Facts

  • -The reason I chose this organism is because my favorite animal is a ferret.  Ferrets are somewhat related to the mongoose and have some of the same features. 

  • -This organism, the mongoose, is also famous.  It is one of the main characters in the book Rikki-Tikki-Tavi.

  • -There are 12 sub species of this organism.  They are separated mostly by their morphology.  The twelves sub species include Cynictis penicillata bechuanae, Cynictis penicillata brachyura, Cynictis penicillata bradfieldi, Cynictis penicillata cinderella, Cynictis penicillata coombsi, Cynictis penicillata intensa, Cynictis penicillata kalaharica, Cynictis penicillata karasensis, Cynictis penicillata lepturus, Cynictis penicillata ogilbyii, Cynictis penicillata pallidior, and Cynictis penicillata penicillata.
