    This phyla (the "soft bodied"), being one of the most diverse phylum in the kingdom Animalia,   includes most of the identifiable invertebrates, including the snails. (Hickman, 2009)

Gastropoda
    Gastropoda, or "stomach foot", is the largest class of Mollusca, including organisms that have a muscular foot, coiled shell, visceral mass and is characterized by torsion, the 180 degree rotation of the visceral mass and mantle. (Hickman, 2009)

    This order includes pulmonate gastropods that have two pairs of invaginable tentacles.  The eyes are on the anterior pair of tentacles.

    This family contains organisms with ribbed jaws, no dart apparatus and muscles allowing the eyes of the snail to be retracted.

    Triodopsis means "three toothed" and organisms in the genus Triodopsis contain flat spiral shells.

The genus, meaning "three toothed" and species, meaning "dished", put together make the common name of this species, Dished Threetooth.
