Nutrition
In the phylum Mollusca, many of the
organisms contain a tongue like organ that
is used for feeding and tearing at food,
called a radula. On this radula are
chitinous teeth that are pointed backwards
making it easier for the snail to tear and
cut particles of their food. The class
Gastropoda are herbivores meaning they eat
plant material, so their radula is used for
tearing pieces off of food sources such as
algae. There are many different types
of feeders in the class Gastropoda.
Some are browsers or grazers, while others
are scavengers.
More detailed information about the nutrition of Triodopsis vulgata is not known at this time.
