With males weighing about 90 kg and getting as long as 2.6 m long and females weighing 45 kg and having a length of about 1.5 m, it's not hard to see why this lizard is classified as the largest! Komodo dragons, also known as ora or monitor dragon, can get so large that they are sometimes mistaken as alligators!
The komodo dragon wasn't even discovered to the western world until the early 20th century and the arrival of the komodo dragon to the United Stated didn't occur until the 1920's!
